(DSP) Caught Selling Stolen Motorcycles

A deputy superintendent of police (DSP) posted at the Anti Vehicle Theft Cell (AVLC) in Karachi has been caught red-handed while selling a stolen motorcycle.

ARY News “Sar-e-Aam” team led by anchor Iqrar ul Hassan conducted a sting operation at the AVLC office where DSP Nijabat Hussain was found selling stolen motorcycles.

The sting operation revealed that the DSP was selling stolen motorcycles without informing the original owners. Citizens had complained about DSP Hussain being involved in illegal activities when he was posted at AVLC East.

Under the sting operation, the Sar-e-Aam team purchased two motorcycles from the DSP for Rs 15,000 and Rs 20,000 and recorded all the conversations related to it.

Iqrarul Hasan explained that the operation was run on a limited budget, which allowed the team to only purchase stolen motorcycles. Nevertheless, he indicated that the DSP also sold stolen cars.

This sting operation has created a stir in the police department and an investigation has been started into the matter. This incident has raised questions about the integrity of some police officers and their involvement in criminal activities.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) AVLC Arif Aslam Rao immediately took note of the ARY News report and removed DSP Nizabat Hussain from her post. A notification has been issued to remove her and an inquiry has been initiated against her.

Earlier in March, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DSP) Ahmad Karim Jilani was arrested while smuggling gutkha and other narcotics. Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Rifat Mukhtar suspended the DSP and directed him to report to the Central Police Office. Customs officials arrested DSP Jilani near Jamshoro and ordered an inquiry, with DIG Mirpurkhas Tanveer Alam Odho appointed as the investigating officer.
