PM Shahbaz calls for local auto manufacturing and exports to boost economy

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday urged the auto industry to boost local manufacturing and exports to improve the economy.

A delegation of auto and auto parts manufacturers met Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif to discuss the industry’s concerns and future strategies. The delegation included Toyota Pakistan CEO Ali Jamali and auto parts industry representative Aamir Allahwala.

The representatives also apprised him of the challenges facing the auto sector.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Sharif stressed the importance of local manufacturing and urged the auto sector to produce vehicles within Pakistan. He also called on the industry to export a large portion of its products and contribute to the country’s development.

The prime minister stressed the need to implement the Auto Sector Decarbonisation Policy for the auto sector to integrate Pakistan’s auto parts industry into the global value chain. He reiterated the government’s commitment to boost domestic exports through various priority measures.

Federal Minister for Industries Rana Tanveer Hussain, Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, Coordinator to Prime Minister Rana Ehsan Afzal, Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and other senior officials were present in the meeting.
